Feeling Guilty

I have a tiny confession to make, since yesterday i have been feeling like the worst mum in the world.
Rebecca tripped yesterday, it was a small meanless thing and she barely cried after it but she somehow managed to chip her front tooth.

I was getting Eilidh dressed at the time and feel terrible for not being there, i try to tell myself that it doest matter as she would of tripped if i was there or not. Its not really helping though as all i can think about is her poor front tooth and her being stuck with it for years. She doest seem to be in any pain thankfully and we have an appointment at the dentist for her next week, I’m not sure what they can do but hoping they may be able to file it down for her a little. It sure hurts when she feeds (from me).
Its really the first accident she has had and i still feel sick thinking about it,
on a better note i actually put her hair in pigtails the other day and its just so dam cute.

    aaawwww.

There’s really nothing you could’ve done… but I understand how you feel. I feel bad every time Zoe falls and gets a bump, a bruise, or a scrape. But, little ones fall. I’m sure you’ll feel better after the dentist. They’ll either tell you it’s fine and not to worry… or they’ll offer up a solution. I know this doesn’t help too much… but at least it’s a baby tooth and not a permanant tooth. Let us all know how the dentist appointment goes!

I’m sure this won’t help a lot, but there is nothing you could’ve done to prevent it. She would’ve still done it. My dd did the same thing and she was my one and only back then. She chipped her tooth and then a little while later, she chipped her other tooth! I couldn’t believe it. We ended up having to take her in and get her teeth fixed. I hope the dental visit goes well;-) It’s hard to not feel bad, though.

:( Don’t feel too down on yourself…my son has a chipped tooth that he got when he fell head first into the coffee table…he has also busted his lip open numerous times, and when he was 5 months old he rolled off the bed right onto his head - geez, I nearly hyperventalated! My daughter, well…she has busted her lip open and just a few minutes ago her hand got slammed into the closet door (she is 1 year old, my son is 3)….big hugs to you, you will make it through!

Oh no! It seems like things like that always happen when you least expect it. Not the normal people walk around thinking, “Yeah, I think she’s going to trip and fall right about now!” :)

    Whoops…I somehow missed this post!

Poor Becca…and poor you, as I know the guilt you feel is the worst! But really, everyone else is right. There’s nothing you could have done to prevent it. All kids have accidents like that. Nadia hasn’t chipped a tooth (knock on wood) but she’s had plenty of scrapes and bruises. Hey, at least it’s a baby tooth!
