Eilidhs Boo-Boo

My baby has her first proper boo boo yesterday, Rebecca was having one of those days – you know the type , fussy and moaning about everything.
This morning she found daddies car keys and was playing with them , Eilidh was on the floor and was trying to get them, out
of nowhere Rebecca turned around and hit her *hard” with them on the face.
Eilidh immediately started screaming, i just held her rocking her for about 5 minutes till she calmed down and stopped, Rebecca was
standing in the corner and to be honest looked completely shocked and upset about it all. It was after Eilidh stopped crying i noticed her face, just
underneath her right eye was a cut and blood was dripping down her cheek, it looked so deep and nasty and my
first thought was going and waking up dh and taken her to the hospital.
i calmed down though and started to breastfeed her, while she was feeding i cleaner it up and put on some cream. It looked much
better and was really only a surface cut. She is not bothered by it but it looks terrible, its swollen and bruised – so she basically has a black
eye. Thankfully it looks better today, of course with my lovely new camera i took a couple of shots.

Of course today she managed to hurt herself this time, im pretty ok with the kids going in any room of the house but im not that kean on Eilidh going in the bathroom. Its tiled flooring and its hard , if she was to fall it was hurt, so its the one room i try to discourage her from going – of course it makes her want to go in it more. Today as usual she and Rebecca crawled into it and by the time i got there Rebecca was standing beside the shower and Eilidh standing up using the tiled step up to the shower. I walked in and told them they shouldn’t be there and Eilidh turned around so quick she fell down and scraped her side against the tiles. To add to her black eye she now has a lovely big scratch across her belly. No pictures of that yet.

I’m apparently taking so long to respond (put baby to bed, keep getting interrupted by Emma!) that you’ve written a new post since I first got on. POOR BABY!!! Poor Mommy too! I can only imagine how you were feeling with her being hurt like that. Rebecca is so young, she probably had no idea she would hurt the baby like that. Siblings can be a challenge…keeping one safe from teh other! She’s a beautiful little girl (both of them). I hope her ouchie gets better. Babies heal so fast, so I’m sure she will. Give her a hug for me!

Poor mommy and Eilidh! Hope the boo-boo heals quick. I agree with Teresa, it can be a challenge keeping the kids safe from each other. Its an everyday one in our house.
