Stories From A Shopping Trip

The Awkward Kiss

Despite the plans i made yesterday (the usual house related stuff) i decided at the last moment to take the girls and go a walk around our local shopping centre. Do you ever get those days when you just cannot face being stuck in doors? On the walk down i passed this young couple in a shaded area next to a children’s play park (that Rebecca was begging to play in, i would of let her if it wast raining) .
From the beginning on the pathway you could sense the awkwardness between them, they were young - maybe 15 - and kissing. They were kissing the way only young shy kids can - mouths were touching but every other part of there bodies were miles apart, when i walked past they pulled apart and i got to here there most wonderful conversation.

Guy - (Sigh) We should just of gone to the cinema
Girl (Playing with her nails) Yeah - snoggings boring

Why did i find this funny ? Why did i bother boring you guys with it? . Well im not sure other that im so glad to not be that age any more, sometimes its easy to look back at being 15 and say it was great . BUT in reality im pretty sure it sucked, im glad to be away from the dating scene.

The Wrong Word

Walking into a popular clothes shop while out i immediately noticed a young child trip and fall (not badly ) she immediately burst into tears and sat on the ground. Im guessing she was not much older than Rebecca, but upon crying she shouted in such a upset voice “My daddy r***d me” . Now imagine it - its Saturday, its raining outside - the shops is busy. The entire shop seemed to stop and just stare, the mother ducked straight down gathering the girl into her arms and the father (looking completly horrified ) just stood there , you could tell he was unsure what to do. Well it finally emereged what the little girl meant to say was “My daddy tripped me” (I imagine she feel over his foot or something ) , it was just an innocent slip of the tongue in a young toddler , but those poor parents . I can only imagine how embarrassing it must of been.

Not Pretty In Pink

While im on the topic of the shopping centre i must ask does anyone really think its ok for someone over the age of 16 to wear head to toe pink ? Especially baby pink? . Okay i like pink, including baby pink and have been known to wear it myself (in fact yesterday had on a dark pink top, today a light pink) But seeing someone old enough to be my gran mother wearing baby pink shoes, trousers and top and carrying a matching bag makes me want to gag - to make things worse i saw to completely diff rent people wearing these type of outfits yesterday.

Not So Good For You
As my sister was babysitting it was just going to be and the girls for dinner that night, i went to pick us up a little treat - going for a fruit trifle for us to share. As usual i went to go for the healthier option but checked out the nutritional values compared to the full fat version

Full Fat ———— Health Version

Calories 200 ———— 140
Salt 0.2g ————1.2g
Sugar 13g ————17g

I cannot remember the fat but there was about 4g of a different. Now for me i couldn’t believe the difference in the salt/sugar content between healthy and normal, so get fat or lose your teeth ?
I ended up going for the full fat version, i would prefer the healthy one but as high calories are ok for the girls (preferred in Becca’s case) i made the sacrifice :) .

Your page looks great! I’ve been guilty of only reading in my Google Reader, so forgive me if you changed your template months ago.

The teenager story was rather funny! I can’t imagine how that girl’s mom felt when she said “raped” instead of “tripped.” Oh how our kids can embarrass us!

  • Christina:

I love how you have your post divided into little sections!

The first story is my favorite. So funny! And I get a kick out of the word “snogging” too as it’s never said over here - makes me think of HP!!

And gosh do I feel the awkward embaressment of the parents whose little girl “tripped!” Whoops.

  • Tiffany:

I dont think I would want to go back to being a teenager either. DOnt get me wrong, I had fun, but I just LOVE my life now.

That would be very embarassing for the parents when the girl said he raped me! Yikes!

I wear pink to. Mainly just pink shirts. I LOVE pink, but head to toe pink…..*gag* You should have taken a picture…lol

I would have gone for the full fat too!

  • Shannon:

I love the word- snogging… it makes me giggle!!
