Playgroup

Today was Rebeccas first day of playgroup, for those not in the UK playgroup is a sort of pre-nursery program kids can go once there two. Its ran by volunteers and non compulsory, We really feel Rebecca will benefit from it – both to help speech and interaction skills.

It started off wonderfully, i was terrified though – Rebecca has never been left with anyone outside family and i had no idea how she would react.

On The Way There

We got there and she just went happily about the room playing with the various toys, i was planning to stay the whole time but she seemed so happy that i decided to go home – its only a few minutes away plus i missed my Eilidh (Okay i have some issues being away from my girls).
Eilidh and i spent the time playing and sorting clothes

I put Eilidh down for her afternoon nap and went to get Rebecca (yes DH was home) , i walked into the classroom to find her in one of the leaders arms and in tears. I still feel so bad over it, she lept straight into my arms and wouldn’t let go – she kept asking to leave. The teacher did say she was mostly ok, she would play for a while then get a little upset but could be comforted easily . I am trying to believe them, they did say they would call if she got to upset and i know from friends kids that they will. She apparently spent most of the time painting as i could easily tell from the mess.

Not sure how easy it is to see but she was covered head to toe – her hair was blue and pink steaked with sparkles in it.

I do think she will enjoy it, she is back on Wednesday and im thinking i will stick around this time.

What a big day for you guys! I think playgroup will be good for Becca, and it will be great for you to have that time with Eilidh, too. I’m sure it was hard to walk in and see her upset, but each day will get easier for both of you. LOL at her paining mess!

Aww. Im sure after a couple time she will be just fine. Not sure they have them in the UK, but in the US we have stuffed animals that have a slot for mommy or daddys picture. Maybe that would help her. In the US we also have PAINT SHIRTS they should try those out too..lol. (Or send her in with an oversized T-shirt so it will cover her clothes) Hope that paint comes out of her clothes easily! Yikes!

awwwww poor wee thing! I’m sure she will get used to it before you know it. It sounds like she had fun while she was there with all the painting. :-)

I remember my friend little boy at that age, going to nursery and screaming like hell she’d gone and when she arrived screaming, one day she’d left his tedy in the car and popped back to drop it off (prior to this she’d left a little boy nearly making him self sick he didnt want leaving) she’d be gone less than a minute and its was like he’d been swicthed off!

I hope she enjoys next time, i dread the time i leave my boy with anyone that not family!
