Being around an almost 10 month old is not a new thing for me, after all Rebecca was 10 months for a whole month
. BUT one of the most amazing things about parenting the second time around is that each milestone is still as precious , each new thing just as an amazing. I have have been here once before but watching Eilidh grow from the tiny (well sort of tiny at almost 9lbs) baby into the toddler and little girl she is becoming is still a wonderful experience.
She seems to be making a big development leap with everything these days, walking, talking and just doing. Here are some of the amazing stuff (well amazing for me ) she has been up to .
- She has started to get the concept of handing you items, I’m not talking about just picking up anything and giving it to you but responding to a request for something such as a ball or toothpaste (yesterday she was playing with toothpaste!!!! and when i asked for it she stood up and gave it to me) . Although she has not really grasped letting the item go yet .
- Yesterday we went to a soft play area, there were these balls hanging down for older kids to swing on. She would grab one and push it along , it only went a few feet before stopping suddenly and she would normally fall . Because the ball moved so much it would take a few moments for her to get back up again (and some knocks on the head) . After falling a few times she started to “get” that it stopped suddenly and each time would stop pushing a little before the end, turn around and push in the other direction.
- I changed yet another dirty nappy this morning ( 4 in 3 hours Grr) and as usual she ran away (well crawled, still crawls for speed normally) and after a few moments i asked her if she wanted a nappy on. She walked over to where the nappies are kept and pulled one out and sat on it (just like her sister does)
I could go on and on, with stuff like how she gets that when eating out a packet of something (such as crisps) you reach inside to get one , or playing with toys and doing so correctly (trying to put the balls in correct places, build up blocks) . She lacks co -ordination and strenght to do alot of what she wants but she understands what she is trying to do and im in awe of this little girl.
Edited to add - she does’t actually get crisps or sweets , she steals her sisters normally ![]()

Shes is so smart! WTG Eilidh!
What a sweet post - especially the first paregraph. She really is such a smart little girl and I love hearing the stories.
Aw that is so neat!
I agree 100%… Matthew may only be 2 months old, but the first time he smiled at me I was SO excited! I can’t wait to experience babyhood with him all over again!
That is a lovely post. What a clever little one she is.
