The First Time…….
The Cot
Yesterday marked a first for not only Eilidh, but in fact for us as a parent. Rebecca never slept in her cot long enough to be able to do this.
I was sorting out there clothes, Eilidh kept pulling stuff from the drawers so i put her in her cot - just for a moment to finish off. I turned my back for a moment (she was safe and happy after all) and heard the *bang* . There she was my little dare devil lying on the ground crying her eyes out. I have no idea how she done it but she somehow made climbed out the cot, the mattress is now on its lowest position and hopefully will not happen again for a while. She was/is fine , has a little bump and bruise on her forehead but seems ok . I feel rotten over it.
The No-Nap
Today was also a day with another first for us as a parent, yet again with our youngest. It was no nap day today apparently, she was up between 4am and 5am then went back to sleep till 8am. Nothing could get her to sleep today and by bedtime she was completely shattered, i really hope this was just a once off. Im just getting used to Rebecca’s new schedule (shorter nap time of around 45-60 Min’s but getting up around 6am rather than 5am) and cannot have my almost 10 month old not napping at all.
The Outside Walk
We did have a sweeter first today, we left early to go and pick Courtney up from school (in the hope Eilidh would sleep in her pram) and while waiting for Courtney let Eilidh out the pram to walk about - she only got to do it for a short while as she is still getting use to having shoes on and cannot seem to walk right with them on.
Each day is really something new these days
Learning The World
Being around an almost 10 month old is not a new thing for me, after all Rebecca was 10 months for a whole month
. BUT one of the most amazing things about parenting the second time around is that each milestone is still as precious , each new thing just as an amazing. I have have been here once before but watching Eilidh grow from the tiny (well sort of tiny at almost 9lbs) baby into the toddler and little girl she is becoming is still a wonderful experience.
She seems to be making a big development leap with everything these days, walking, talking and just doing. Here are some of the amazing stuff (well amazing for me ) she has been up to .
- She has started to get the concept of handing you items, I’m not talking about just picking up anything and giving it to you but responding to a request for something such as a ball or toothpaste (yesterday she was playing with toothpaste!!!! and when i asked for it she stood up and gave it to me) . Although she has not really grasped letting the item go yet .
- Yesterday we went to a soft play area, there were these balls hanging down for older kids to swing on. She would grab one and push it along , it only went a few feet before stopping suddenly and she would normally fall . Because the ball moved so much it would take a few moments for her to get back up again (and some knocks on the head) . After falling a few times she started to “get” that it stopped suddenly and each time would stop pushing a little before the end, turn around and push in the other direction.
- I changed yet another dirty nappy this morning ( 4 in 3 hours Grr) and as usual she ran away (well crawled, still crawls for speed normally) and after a few moments i asked her if she wanted a nappy on. She walked over to where the nappies are kept and pulled one out and sat on it (just like her sister does)
I could go on and on, with stuff like how she gets that when eating out a packet of something (such as crisps) you reach inside to get one , or playing with toys and doing so correctly (trying to put the balls in correct places, build up blocks) . She lacks co -ordination and strenght to do alot of what she wants but she understands what she is trying to do and im in awe of this little girl.
Edited to add - she does’t actually get crisps or sweets , she steals her sisters normally ![]()
BSM - Sick
My poor baby was not well at the weekend and bad mummy couldn’t resist taken a couple of little pictures.
The first she was not long up a nap, hair tied back and wearing only a nappy. She had been sick so many times we gave up on clothes - she just looks so unwell here, her eyes look sad.
The second is the day after the worst of the illness, she was trying so hard to be normal and happy and eat some of her favorite grapes , looking at the picture though she looks so tired and unwell still. Poor baby

Hair, Feet and What The Heck Is That?
Most days i just love having girls ,i can put them in lovely dresses and do cute stuff to there hair.
Then there are the frilly socks and pretty shoes.
Eilidhs look is not to pretty but we have still to go and get her some proper shoes, she has tiny feet so trying to leave it a few weeks in the hope they will grow some. But how cute does she look in these sandals? Her first walking shoes (actually ones we got for Becs when she was about 6 months old, but by the time she started walking had out grew them)
Now last night when i was making dinner the girls were playing in the food cu bored, Eilidh made a lovely mess
Now can anyone guess what she had been eating? Winners gets…………well nothing really, How about the winner can ask me anything they want and i promise a honest answer?
How about a couple of clues?
Its not chocolate (includes the slim fast behind her)
Its not dirt, poo anything harmful (i think)
Its something most people love but i doubt anyone loves it in this form.
Have fun
This Weekends Pics

Morning Sickies Times Two
This morning i was yet again woken by a child being sick, the other one this time.
She woke at 4 , i just managed to grab a towel from the washing pile to catch it in. We went through the living room and curled up but much like with her sister the previous night neither of us could sleep due to frequent bouts of sickness.
When Eilidh woke up (who seemed great today, 100% better) she proceeded to annoy her poor sister. Rebecca broke down crying and i took her to DH. Both girls went back to sleep and it was after 8 when we all got up.
The day continued with cycles of sickness, sleeping and the occasional bright spot. We went to my parents for dinner which sounds mean but its quite hard to cope with both of them, Rebecca just wants to curl up and Eilidh gets so annoyed and cries.
Rebecca eat some grapes and banana and just after declaring she is on the mend was sick again .
Basically that’s been the last two days, both girls are sleeping now and im hoping tomorrow both are well - i feel rotten for them
