BSM - Out For A Walk
I bravely took my two girls out for a walk sans stroller the other day, im still not sure what possessed me. It actually went ok for the most part, Rebecca is so good at following instructions and going the correct way (although she can dawdle a little and likes to looks at all the leaves and stuff) .
This is one of my fave shots from the day, Rebecca is just waiting for her sister to catch up
Now head over to Picture This for more great shots
A Wonderful Few Days
Gosh its been a lovely few days, my cousin Sarah from Canada was visiting and spent a few days staying here with me and the girls. I just love Sarah and really wish she lived closer, she is just one of these people i enjoy being around you know?
The girls *adored* her and both just took to her straight away, she started this adorable “bouncy baby” thing with Eilidh whereas all you have to say to Eilidh is “where is the bouncy baby” and she starts bouncing up and down.
The change from the norm has really done me good, it was great having another girl around the place to chat to and we even managed a girly night out on Friday. I have stayed up way to late the last few nights and chatted way to much but its been a blast. We only get to see each other every few years so im going to miss her ![]()
Stay Tuned
Kinda busy at the moment, my cousin from Canada is currently visiting so computer time is short. To busy enjoying real life for a change
. Regular programming should resume tomorrow
Been Busy
Gosh these girls are keeping me busy just now.
The days are just going by way to fast, come the evenings i am exhausted and unable to do anything but think of sleep. I think its having two toddlers that do it - Eils sure is a spirted little girl who can go and go (and go and go). Im loving it but have never felt so burnt out in my life.
We went to a local play centre today and both girls had such a wonderful time, Eilidh for the first time was right in the middle of it all playing and having a ball. It was so scary letting her do it but couldn’t for the life of me stop her.
She now has a whole two teeth and a bunch of new words (did i mention apple before? , Auntie , No and Yum are ones she added in the last few days) .
Wind The Bobbing Up has fast became Rebecca’s favorite song (thanks playgroup) and its sung dozens of times each day. So much so that Eilidh is now joining in with the actions and can even tell whats coming next. Each day is bringing new words and milestones for Rebecca and im loving being able to communicate with her more and more.
Eilidh is also starting to understand alot more, mention your going to a certain room and she can lead the way - ask for an object and she will go and get it.
Eilidh also turned 11 months old today, one month to go till the big 1
Desktop Meme Part 2
As promised a picture of the desktop on my computer, its normally not got so many icons but i was just transferring some pictures of my niece from a cd i found. Isn’t she cute?
She is only about 6 weeks old in these pics.
Also on the desktop is the last new episode of Hero’s (i know we are bad but we would have to wait months to see it here) and a file of DHs i guess.
The background picture changes pretty often, normally once or twice a week.
Im Still Doing WHAT?
This is not a topical blog, im not trying to set the world on fire or bring about debates. There are plenty of wonderful ones out there already , all im wanting to do is have a lovely record of my children’s life’s and if other wants to read it that’s great.
My parenting “style” i guess falls towards AP - or attachment parenting as its otherwise known. We co-sleep, breastfeed, refuse to cio (leave a child to cry it out) , delay solids - amongst others.
I try to be free with my parenting and really believe in letting the child lead the way with alot of things , i still have guilt over forcing Rebecca to start solids at 6 months just because that was the “magical” age - she was clearly not ready. I let them make messes and run around naked, let them choose crazy outfits and now and then eat cake at 6am. My eldest may not be toilet trained, know her abcs or all her numbers but i know she will in time. For me i would much rather she learned what they really mean and say then rather than just recite of something she has memorised.
People act shocked when the realise Rebecca still shares our bed, but for the moment its how we all sleep best so surly that’s what matters? (And yes i do feel bad for Eilidh stuck in her cot all alone while we are snuggled up, i have to remind myself over and over its what she prefers)
Even more so that co-sleeping there is one topic guaranteed to raise an eyebrow of two - im still breastfeeding. Yes of course the 11 month old is still feeding, in my world that’s to be expected and completely normal but when people realise my *shock* 28 month old is still feeding all sort of comments are made.
Recently this topic came up on a email group im on, comments such as “sick, sick, sick” were made . Was told that a child over one should not be “sucking on my tits” instead if we must give breast milk give it in a cup.
Both of these offended me, i completely understand not everybody gets the extended breastfeeding but to call it “sick” is unfair , people try to demoralise it and turn it into something sexual and wrong.
Are you aware the World Health Organisation recommend breastfeeding for a *minimum* of TWO YEARS and then for as long as both mother and child are happy. That the worldwide average weaning age is 4.2 years of age? . Breasts are for feeding and its makes me so angry that others see something wrong in the nutrients and comfort i can still provide my toddler.
Desktop MeMe Part 1
Was tagged by the lovely Shannon
for the desktop meme . I was going to wait till later and take part when on my computer instead of dhs laptop but figured i could do both
* Upon receiving this tag, immediately perform a screen capture of your desktop. It is best that no icons be deleted before the screen capture so as to add to the element of fun. You can do a screen capture by: Going to your desktop and pressing the Print Scan (PrtScn) key. Open a graphics program (like Picture Manager, Paint, or Photoshop) and do a Paste (CTRL + V). If you wish, you can “edit” the image, before saving it.
* Post the picture on your blog. You can also give a short explanation on the look of your desktop just below it if you want. You can explain why you preferred such a look or why is it full of icons–things like that.
* Tag five people, and ask them to give you a free view of their desktops as well.
Pretty boring really . No background and a few university realted icons
Well i tag
The Best Laid Plans
Thank you to everyone for the concern over my tooth, got an appointment at the dentist tomorrow. Im just so grateful that im still receiving free dental treatment of the cost would be way out of our league (All pregnant women receive free prescriptions and dental care, you also get it for the first pp year).
I did have a longer post planned for tonight but im not sure how much time im going to have to type, both girls have coughs and colds. Rebecca keeps waking up with coughing fits, so here is my last few days in note form
- DH and i went shopping yesterday without kids, really weird. Got some great bargains and picked up myself 5 new tops, 7 pairs of underwear , new smart black trousers and a new jacket. Still got money left too.
- Had a friend around in the evening for a few drinks, was nice to socialise with a childless person for a change, DH and him left around 10 so i could go to bed.
- 4 hours later DH comes home after my upset texts, both girls been up and down all night and i have not made it to sleep yet. Rebecca is wide awake and refusing to sleep . Thankfully he takes over and lets me get some sleep (was after 2am at this point)
- Girls both up at 6.30am, then both fights naps. Finally get Rebecca down at 11am and i get to get a short nap (thankfully DH was there as Eilidh got up around 11.15am)
- Today was nice at least, went for a lovely family lunch and a small shopping trip. Got Rebecca a cute new outfit and picked up some art supplies for her .
Now im just hoping she stays asleep long enough to maybe let me have a bath , could do with a long soak right now.
