On The Mend

Posted by lauramcintyre

Its been a tiring few days, after writing my last message Eilidh woke again screaming and so unhappy.
When DH got home he wanted to phone NHS 24 (basically out of hours doctors) for advice, i guess at that point i was worried to between the constant screaming, fever and lack of fluids. The doctor we spoke to recommended bringing her in for a check up.
So 12 o’clock Sunday night DH had to get out of bed and take Eilidh to the hospital (i hated not being able to go, but as DH drives and i don’t it made sense).

The verdict? A mystery virus apparently, maybe teething but to honest the doctor seemed as clueless as we are. We were just to keep an eye out for rashes and try to force the fluid issue.
A horrible night followed with her barely sleeping, she would wake and cry in what seemed like a 10 minute cycle. Around 5am i put her in her cot and she slept for a few hours (i so wish i tried putting her down before, i forget that Eilidh sleeps alone by choice).

Yesterday she was so much better and almost her old self, still not eating or drinking loads but she seemed happy enough mostly. Ok she was a nightmare around dinner time but that was more to do with being so tired (no afternoon nap) . Last night she slept wonderfully , going from 6.30pm - 7.30am with no wakings. I was completely grateful and slept like a log myself.

Today she is now in her cot telling stories to her stuffed animals and banging the wall.

  4. Kristi Said,

It’s so awful when babies are sick, isn’t it? They’re so pitiful, and they can’t tell us what’s really wrong. I’m happy she’s better!
