Stories Of The Week 1

I wanted to say a big thank you for all the wonderful comments on my last post, its really helped me feel better about this blog .

I know when it comes to it the purpose is to record the moments from my children’s life that i want to remember ,and also i guess to serve as a  diary for myself and i have to keep that in mind.

Lately though i have been finding myself recording less and less of the unimportant stuff when daily they are silly  memories i would love to write down.  In a bid to try and capture these memories im going to once a week write down those moments that stick out, they may be silly but i really think this sort of thing  will be fun to look back on.

Stories Of The Week

- Not sure if  i have mentioned before Eilidh’s fondness for calling all fruit Apple , except a Banana which is a “Ba - Apple” . You can correct her and laughing she will say the right word - pear, grapes etc… then go right back to asking for an apple.

- Rebecca loves to dance along to In The Night Garden, she gets so excited when the all character dance comes up at the end and must grab Iggle and Daisy to join in. Eilidh sways side to side quite dramatically  . The other day Rebecca was watching an episode and Iggle and Daisy were holding a blanket and dancing around a bed, she has a blanket and was dancing in circles. I of course told her she was adorable and for about half an hour after that she kept following me and recreating the dance so i would tell her she was adorable.

- Hopefully this will change but Rebecca has started calling milkies “BooBays”  despite us never referring to them as that word.

Boobays is funny! I have found of late that i seem to be recording less, going to make more effort from now, it seems what was once exciting to write about i now dont even think of writing!

  • Christina:

I think it’s a great idea to share these little tidbits weekly! You will really love to look back on them one day, and I sure to enjoy hearing about it. Eils is such a little trickster with her “apples” stunt!

I think that you have the purpose of your blog exactly right-to record the memories you don’t want to forget. You should never think of your blog as silly, because it’s your life. It’s important, and it’s fun for all of your visitors to read. So, don’t stop writing!

  • Arkie Mama:

Oh, I know what you mean.

I recently went back and added a bunch of the kids’ sayings and mispronunciations to each of their baby books.

I’m so afraid I won’t remember the things I find so sweet and funny here in the now.

  • Katie McGloflin:

Kids can say the sweetest things, but bizarre. I wish I had wrote more things down that my kids said or did when they were younger.
Thank you for visiting my blog & it’s nice to meet you.

I think that is an awesome idea. I wish I had a record of the things my kids said and did when they were little. My mom would tell me, write it down, you won’t remember, and it is true. There are funny things they said last summer I don’t remember. When the kids were little I pretty much gave up hand writing most things, even letters so I didn’t get around to recording stuff like I should have. I think if I had a blog back then, it would have been different. I envy the mom’s who will be recording their life from the time the kids are little and not just when they are teens and preteens like mine.

I found your link at Katie’s. I hope you don’t mind me coming for a visit.

Thanks for the comments on my blog. Listen, If you’re only 26 and you live in Scotland, I can totally understand why you have never watched “I love Lucy”. It would be more amazing that you have watched it! They were fun shows for their day. Just some crazy hilarity. Very nostalgic for me. :D

  • cynthia:

I love your little tidbits. I wish we still had little ones. Maybe someday…

  • Joy T.:

I actually envy moms today and how much they record all the things their children do. Back when my kids were small there just wasn’t anything like what they have today. I could have wrote in a journal I suppose but I didn’t. All those wonderful little memories gone. Good for you for recording all these cute things!

  • Meredith:

That’s the same reason I have my blog. I want to be able to share the fun, silly stuff with Little Elvis when he’s older (so sure he will be thrilled that I wrote about his diaper issues when he’s 13!)
Thanks for coming to my site!
