48 Hours

Posted by lauramcintyre

List Style :)

- Monday night Eilidh was refusing to settle in her cot so for some unknown reason i thought would bring her into the bed with Rebecca and i . STUPID IDEA . Rebecca slept as usual in the middle of the bed , me to the left of her and Eilidh on my other side . I had to hold on to Eilidh for dear life so she wouldn’t fall out the bed.  Miss independent sleeper hated this and would wake up every 30 minutes or so fuss then go back to sleep. Poor me was completely trapped with a girl in each arm pinning me down so could not even put her back in her cot. 5.30am Eilidh woke us both up bouncing on the bed.

- Tuesday we all had the best day, i met a friend at a local indoor play center and we all had such a great time we stayed for just under 4 hours . Only paid for two but figured they could come and chuck us out if anyone was bothered. We had a great girly chat while out kids all played , its great we are both pregnant with our third (she is due about 6-8 weeks before me ) and Eilidh and her second daughter J are a day apart in age.  She is also one of these seemingly rare mums around here who actually enjoys spending time with her children and not leaving them for nights on the town ever week .

- If was Tuesday night when all the hassle started, Eilidh was sick for the first time when we got in - just hoped to much excitement and was sick again about an hour later. She eat a bunch of veg for dinner then threw it all up in her cot. We spent the night snuggled on the couch, she was sick another couple of times but would mostly sleep for a bit then wake and want to play, passing out after about 5 minutes. She started of this morning seeming so ill but has been getting better as the day went on, she slept alot but after an afternoon nap demanded food and was almost her old self (just a little fussier - you could tell she still was not 100%)

- Mind you Rebecca was so tired from the days events that she slept solidly from around 7pm to 8.20 am the next morning, she never sleeps that late .  Even when DHs alarm went of at 7 she did not stir (and this thing went off for 20 minutes before i finally went and woke DH up telling him to turn it off)

- I also had another Anti-Natal check up, the real booking in appointment with bloods (which left me feeling horrible afterwards) and a million and one questions.  Giving a bag full of fun stuff to read but admit i chickened out mentioning the homebirth , then again noone asked . I know i can mention if at anytime but i would rather get it over and done with sooner rather than later just incase im going to have to fight it.

Well thats enough for now, good to maybe squeeze in an email reply of two then go and watch Tourchwood with DH

Sick, Sick Baby

Posted by lauramcintyre

A very quick post as really don’t want to miss a day.

After a lovely day Eilidh has spent the evening throwing up, hoping it just a combination of to much excitement, over tiredness and junk . Possibly something she eat at the play centre.

Need to go and rescue her from DH just now . Send well vibes :)

Random Things

Posted by lauramcintyre

Combing a list and a meme , Was tagged by Katrina for the “7 weird things about me” and figured it would also work well as a list :)

1 - Remember my hate for clutter? Yes i hate it but do have a tiny confessions - its only on the outside. Look around my home its as clutter free as i can have it , be brave enough to look in a drawer or cupboard and you will find it stuffed with junk.

2 - I’m weird when it comes to melted cheese and cannot stomach it in some dishes ( so no toast and cheese or cheese sauces) , I do take it on Pizza but the plain cheese pizzas make me gag (although i can eat them once i get by the smell)

3 - I get bored *so* easily , i can never sit and do just one thing such as watch tv or read email . I need to be multi tasking to stop from going crazy.

4 - Once when i was a teenager i spent the night sleeping in a large bin shed with a group of friends, it just happened to have a double bed !!!

5 - My teenage nickname was “Hippie” because i once had a fascination for wearing there terrible 70s clothes. I mean really awful stuff like bright blue tights with faces over them.

6 - I missed the class on how to solve long division in school and still cannot do it

7 - As a 14 year old girl for no real reason i confessed to my mother i had tried Cannabis , still not sure why :)

So totally random but i guess thats the point, need to go and clean Rebecca’s dirty bum (In Underwear, Oh Joy) so will just tag the first 7 people who read this post. Go on comment and let us know who you are

Still With Names

Posted by lauramcintyre

The names i would love to use but DH says no to :(

Sydney (G) -  My all time fave name , i have loved it for years and always said my first girl will be called this. Unfortunatly DH hates its

Rhyleigh (G)  - Much like Sydney a name i have always loved , so now you know that if i had my own way instead of Becca and Eilidh my girls would be Sydney and Rhyleigh

Lucas (B) - DH annoys me with this one, he says no as it makes everyone think of Star Wars (as in George Lucas) . Um WTF? Noone agrees with that and DH is such a si-fi nerd i thought he would love the connection.

Kyle (B) - I give DH this one, i love it but he used to have a dog called Kyle

Finlay - Im in love with this name for a son, but as with everything its a NO to DH as it is more a surname - whatever!!!

Mackenzie (Either) - Blah its a surname , la la la another whatever!!!

Grace (G) - I really thought we would use that this time around, its such a pretty name and also my grans name BUT for some reason DH has changed his mind.

I know they are others but these are the names i have adored for years, its drives me nuts when my sister goes on about her future kids and what they will be named . She says that she does’t care what the dad thinks, how i wish it was that easy :)

We currently have one girls name in the maybe pile, but nothing will be decided till the 20 week scan. Don’t worry will not keep it a secret ,i cannot keep my mouth shut for anything

Annoyances

Posted by lauramcintyre

Yesterday as i waited for my first anti-natal appointment (FINALLY , nothing to report as was just a booking in thing) i got to thinking on stuff that annoy me. So welcome to todays list :)

1 - Waiting - As in waiting for what feels like hours at the doctors, waiting for dinner to be done, waiting for a bus . Ok i admit im a pretty impatient person .

2 - Lateness - I think this ties into waiting, i hate been kept waiting so try to never do it to others . Hence the reason i normally show up to everything much to early , i can just about cope till the time comes but once the time i was suppose to be there for comes i get more and more frustrated.

3 - Names - This is silly but i don’t get why people choose to spell there children’s names in such strange ways .You know what i mean silly stuff like Klwoey rather than Chloe , Errinn for Erin or Mhaxx for Max. I could come up with dozens of examples and it bugs me each and every time (I know some of you are thinking that im hypocritical here, yes Eilidh looks weird and sounds nothing like its said but this is the traditional spelling - if we had decided to go for Ailey instead then we would of been choosing to spell it a “weird” way

4 - Do You Know? - I get this question nearly every time i go somewhere new online as in “Oh i once visited Scotland and stayed in this small town called blahblahblah , have you been there?” or even worse “Oh my neighbor has relatives in Scotland called “Smith” Do you know them? . Yes Scotland is small for a country but some people seem to think that its about the size of Disneyland. (Stolen slightly from Siobhan)

5 - Clutter - Visiting my home you may be shocked at this but i really hate clutter, i love simple and basic with free clear spaces. My problem is i live in a small two bedroom flat with three other people and almost no storage so its impossible to be clutter free. I love the idea of moving into a house and have so much space.

6 - Laziness - If your house is a mess clean it, you need something fixed fix it. Again maybe slightly hypocritical as there is millions of things i should be doing during nap times but instead i play the computer, my defense is im busy the rest of the day and it really helps recharge my batteries. Its more those people that do nothing all day and constantly moan how they cannot manage this and that

7 - Dumping Kids - Not as in leaving them as nursery or a childminder (i do understand some parents have to work) but as in those parents who leave there kids for nights at a times every week so they can go and party. I always find this worse when the kid is still a baby, a week old baby should be staying no where other that with his/her mother.  Some parents seem to think its there “right” to have as much free time off as they desire.

8 - Missing Beginning TV Shows - This really bugs me , i hate missing the beginning of a tv show and yes that includes the credits . Even if they never change i “must” watch them.

Going to stop now because i have not even scratched the surface of stuff that annoy me, maybe they will be a part two in the future.

All Around The World

Posted by lauramcintyre

Im (so far) enjoying this blogging each day thing , i imagine just like in November come the last week or so i will be blogged out but for the moment im loving it. The theme makes it so easier and i have thousand of different list ideas . Today various countries i have visited.

1 - Duh !!! Scotland and England - although i don’t exactly “visit” Scotland. I have been to Wales according to my parents but was to young to remember

2 - Denmark (Twice) - My dads brother and his family live there , went once when 4 for a wedding and again when 14.

3 - Canada - My mums sister lives there ,now she has 3 children and two of them have three children (remember Cousin Sarah from a few months back? ) so there is a good extended family over there. Visited for the first time when i was 9 , then again when 15 , 19 and 20 /21 .

4 - Spain - Been to a few different areas , Salou with my parents when 14 then Ibiza with a friend at 19, Tenerife with Cousin Sarah at 20 and last time was with DH (pre kids) to Costa somewhere - do remember it was near Barcelona

5 - Germany - I was 11 when we went on a school trip there , a wonderful and crazy fun filled 5 days

6 - France - I have never actually stayed there but on multiples occasions (such as Salou and Germany) have driven through and eaten there (The Calais - Dover ferry is the quickest way to get from UK to mainland Europe, or was i guess pre Train)

7 - Holland - My parents took me there as an amazing 18th Birthday present , i will never forget sailing down the canal with the unlimited wine and cheese and my embarrassing parents getting everyone to sing happy birthday. And going to the red light district with my parents? Strange to say the least

8 - Africa - A family holiday when i was 16 (i think) to Tunisia (where the Star Wars moves were filmed) , definetly a different place and would love to go back

9 - America - Crossed the border i think every time we visited Canada over to New York State (Buffalo) , also went to Florida when we were 13 - lovely place that i cannot wait to visit again (as i will not be “to cool” and will love it)

I think thats it, honestly there are still millions of places i want to visit . Its part of what i love about having my family young , by the time there grown DH and i will still be young enough to travel the world and see all those places we dream of

**Edited to add i completly forgot Greece - went when i was 17 on my first parent free girly holiday :) **

10 Random Thoughts

Posted by lauramcintyre

For today you get a list of the stuff running through my head on this “spring* morning.

1 - SNOW WTF???????????? Its MARCH , Its SPRING and the snow is coming down heavily - more snow that we seen all winter .  The weather had actually been getting better here, then the rain started again and now this. I WANT SUNSHINE

2 - How can kid listen/watch the same thing over and over without getting bored? Rebecca got this CD from playgroup and is dancing away to it (for the third time) this morning.

3 - Why when a child does something that hurts them do they do the same thing two minutes later?

4 - Why do i have to hide the toilet roll to save it getting wasted? Its so annoying when im going to the bathroom

5 - I sometimes think Eilidh is 100% crazy , last night before bed she had to kiss all the walls in the house !!!

6 - Why has Eilidh now decided all food should be called Apples and all shapes Cir-K ? (Circle)

7 - Should i stop blogging and go and see what Rebecca is up to in the Kitchen? I heard her drag a table through and now she is opening something, bet she is in at daddy’s biscuits AGAIN

8 - Again with the snow, i so hope playgroup is not canceled as Rebecca will be so upset. All morning its been School, School ,School

9 - I keep thinking about this morning when i was woken up with Eilidhs giggling from her cot, Rebecca had got out of bed and the two of them were through the room playing. Adorable

10- McDonald’s  I WANT ONE NOW . Thankfully sister dearest is bringing one home for lunch
