Today i got to see my baby again.

At 20 weeks 2 days she /he is looking very healthy, everything where its suppose to be and the hearbeat nice and strong - fluid levels are “average” thankfully (Excess fluid was the first sign something was wrong with Rebecca) .

Baby was not co-operative in finding out the sex, not only was she/he facing the other way but legs were firmly crossed. We have another scan booked for 28 weeks , if we don’t find out then we will pay for a sexing scan .Not sure if i have mentioned on this blog before but its not the norm to find out the sex of the baby around here and you are actually asked not to even ask but of course we do and the one doctor who seems to do the indepth scans is happy to - but only if he can easily see so will not actually spend time getting baby to co-operate and show .

I am a little disappointed, im having a little bonding trouble with this baby (which im sure is nothing, i felt similar with Eilidh and was sure i could never love her as much as i did Rebecca, was all rubbish and i was in love the moment she was born). I was hoping knowing the sex and choosing a name would make it a little better.

Bubs is healthy as far as we can see (although will not be confident with that till the baby is born) which is all that really matters.

I i should mention the password protected post below Half Way Mark , i hate doing that but its just slightly crossing the “to personal” barrier for me. Its mostly talking about the pregnancy in the first few months, i celebrate making it half way today and was reminiscing.

Chances are if your reading this i will be more than happy to share the password so please email me at lauracmcintyre@gmail.com or leave a comment on a post asking for it. I actually have no problems with other bloggers reading the post, i will be happy to share with family and real life friends. Who am i hiding it from exactly? As unlikely as it may be its my dads boss, the girl i went to high school with and hated or Craig’s professors - the chances any one of these people are reading is almost zero but im not wanting to take the chance
So if i know you or you have a blog (or other web page of some sort) i can check out then i will happily share.

Now thats done with on with THIS post.

Today my mum and i went to visit The Scottish Baby Show , a yearly event held at the Scottish Exhibition Conference Center Its really just a big shopping event with lots of stalls and shows relating to baby and children. We got there at lunch time dropping the children in at the free creche provided (amazingly both girls went happily, neither even saying bye but much more interested in the fun behind the walls). For two hours my mum and i walked , talked and done a little shopping buying a Totseat and a Bum Genius nappy (yes just the one, im wanting to go cloth with this baby and wanting to buy some samples to try out different brands before making the big purchase) . I really wanted to try some baby slings on (not sure what one to go for, i think the reason Eilidh hated the ring sling so much was because i always felt uncomfy in it) but despite going back to the stall twice we seemed to be invisible and passed over time and time again for other people.

After going for a coffee (with NO KIDS) we picked the girls up in time for the Jo Jingles show starting (they both had a great time at the creche , Eilidh actually was sleeping when we got there as she had missed her nap). Rebecca especially loved the Jo Jingles and danced and sung along with glee, Eilidh only really came to enough to join in the last song.

It had already been a pretty full day, none of us had eaten lunch yet (and it was 3 o’clock) so we grabbed something to eat before heading home.

For the girls the adventure was not over yet and we took not *one* but *two* “choo-choos” home . It was there first train rides and as expected they loved it. We all fell through the door just after 5 and they had a quick dinner followed by a quick bath and went straight to bed.

Its been a great but tiring day, to us they are the best kind

I so can no come up with a title , its so been one of those days. Actually yesterday was one of those days to. You know the ones where your just in a funk and nothing really helps get you out of it . DH is ill and i think thats a big part of it, i always get so short tempered when he is ill - he just bugs me constantly and thinks the world should do everything for him . I mean seriously you throw up (in the toilet) you make sure you flush it, there is no excuse in the world for not doing that.

Everything is making me annoyed today. Does not help that was up from 11-12.30 last night with Eilidh then 12.30 till 4.30 with Rebecca.

Till of course dinner and bed time when the kids turned up the cuteness and i have not stopped smiling since. From Rebecca sneaking away and getting desert ready while Eilidh and i finished dinner (Strawberry and White Chocolate muffins yum) to them washing each others hair in the bath.

Then the best bit ,while giving Eilidh her bedtime milk Rebecca comes through with a swim suit on top of her nappy and night dress and insists that is what she is wearing to bed . True to her word she is sleeping sound right now with the swim suit still on , she looks so uncomfy (as the night gown is underneath all bundled up). I do love this sense of “style” thats developing lately.

Really hoping tomorrow is a better day, got the Homebirth Support group meeting which im excited about so lets hope it works its magic :)

Its funny but for the longest time i took nap-time for granted , it happened every day without fail. Then Rebecca stopped doing it every day and i hated it , some days she would and others she wouldn’t . More time passed and its now a very rare occurrence , sure its nice not being up at the crack of dawn and instead getting up about 7/8 but i do miss the mid-morning break.

Today i get an unexpected break, my sister as usual stopped by after dropping Courtney at school and Rebecca just begged her to take her out. Big softy auntie of course agreed and of they went just as Eilidh went down for her morning nap.

So now its 10am and at least an hour ,possibly more of being kid free stretches in front of me .Even better Rebecca starts back “school” today and my sister is taken Eilidh out at the same time to have some auntie and Eilidh alone time (Isn’t my sister the best-est) . I’m hoping i can finally catch up on my blog reading :)

Right now im using DHs new laptop, his old one has been going wonky for a while and was getting more and more unreliable so he bought a new one (Just love how we can afford stuff when he really wants/needs them be it a new car or laptop but if its the girls or i we don’t have the money). Its the first time i have been on it and im finding it rather strange , for a start it has an actual space bar - the other one was lost months ago and we just used the button in the middle instead, plus its my first time using Vista rather than XP. I’m not a fan of change , i will stick with XP on my computer till people are laughing at me for being “behind the times” . I admit im TERRIFIED of doing something wrong on it, DH is a little to protective .

I am declaring today a success.

We had 3 accidents and they were all before 1 o’clock but the pee and poops on the potty far out numbered that (Yes my kid has had way to much chocolate today) . You know whats so great about it all , its all of her own back . I am seriously doing NOTHING ,Rebecca is wanting to go nappy free and is going on the potty 100% on her own - half the time i don’t even realise she has gone till she starts dancing around the potty.

The pride on her face says it all .

I’m not sure if we are toilet training exactly yet but we are in the pre-training stage , there are still obstacles to overcome . The accidents all happened when she was wearing underwear so that may or may not be an issue  , she spent the rest of the day with a bare bum and done great.  I’m so excited over it as i thought this was going to be a milestone i would have to fight her over , guess i should remember that Rebecca does everything in her own time and does it well .

Im so proud of my big girl.

I have been wondering if Eilidh may follow suit in the next few months, crazy i know as she is still so young (just gone 17 months) but she is going along with her sister in the refusing to wear a nappy stakes.  Now she is not going in the potty but does seem to understand when she needs to go - she tends to stop what she is doing and go into a free space to go.

She does seem to copy EVERYTHING her sister does.

Going nappy free today for our lazy doing nothing Saturday . One accident so far but she was to busy doing dishes to remember.

Full report will be given tonight :)

The sun was shinning yesterday and my sister and i decided to take the kids to a local country park . Its perfect for the kids with its different play parks, nature trails, mini zoos and plenty of running space. Its only about 10 minutes away in the car but at least an hours walk away or we would go more.

The sun was rather deceptive though and it was still chilly and windy but the kids loved it despite this. I took so many pictures and had such a hard time deciding what to delete that i figured bugger it and keep them all :) So what if there similar. Of course i have to share some of my faves below (Ignore Rebecca’s non matching outfit, she changed her own top to one that is actually her cousins and more like a dress on her then took of her heavier jacket for a lighter one under the pram . Who cares if it didn’t go match.

The whole day made me realize just how big my girls were , both climbed the stairs easily going down the slides with no help. Rebecca fearlessly made it to the top of the “big kids” adventure playgroup to go down the big slide while the other much older children stopped to scared. I imagine many moments like that will happen this summer

Looks like im taking a little bit of a blogging break just now, its not that i don’t want to blog its just well i don’t have much to write about (unless you want more im so tired posts).

We are all sort of plodding along just now, DH is in the middle of study hell which is not going to ease up for the not 6 weeks. The girls and i are stuck in most days due to lack of finances and are currently spring cleaning (such joy for a 1 and 2 year old) , the sun has been shinning the last few days and if it would just warm up a little we could go out for a while.

Eilidh is teething like crazy and not sleeping great at nights (although for the most part is fine during the day) , she now has at least 12 teeth  including all four first year molars (so makes 6 in about 4 weeks she has got). Rebecca will happily keep pooing in the potty but no pees but at least its a start.  Baby is doing great and big u/s is less than 2 weeks away.

So basically not much to report, i do have one post that i really need to write but it will be long and possibly made private hopefully expect that at some point this weekend. Otherwise may not be around much at the moment while i try to catch up on reading some posts and emails :)

Whooooooo Rebecca actually pooped in the potty tonight, sure it was in the middle of dinner but hey she actually went in the potty.

I have not wrote much about toilet training here because basically its not happening, holding and knowing when to go is no problem but the whole act of peeing/pooing anywhere but her nappy is . She seems almost scared of doing it.

I tried to make a big deal of it and let her have some chocolate (all we had on hand , a game piece from a Doctor Who board game DH got for Christmas lol) . She was so impressed by that and kept asking for more, i would say only f she went potty and she would go and sit but do nothing (although once did make a fake peeing sound) . Im really hope this is the start of something , not expecting her to be out of nappies anytime soon but making a start would be nice.
