The Longest Day
Ever had a day that feels at least 40 hours long ? Today has been one of those but it a wonderful fun filled way . Think i should start from the beginning though.
The day started with Rebecca toddling through the living room and joining Eilidh and i sleeping on the couch , she wriggled and moaned a little unable to get comfy and it was starting to wake her sister up . I checked the time - 5.50am, a little early sure but no big deal so just let Eilidh wake up and the girls start to play. I dragged my pregnant self up and to the bathroom , came back to curl up on the couch for some tv as the girls played . It was only then i noticed the clock and the real time flashing - 3.40am . Checking the clock while half asleep is never a good idea and it was much to late to try and get the girls back to bed now so just resigned ourself for an early morning ..
At the real 5.50am the girls were dressed for the day eating breakfast while i cleaned the kitchen lol
We all took a nap around 7 , Rebecca and i getting woke up with the sun shinning through the living room window. We woke DH up and Eilidh soon joined us and we headed out for a day of fun.
First step lunch, as a very rare treat we stopped at McDonald’s - in fact this is the first time we have ever taken the kids to eat there (they had McDonald’s once before at a party but thats it) . I was impressed that you could swap the fries in the happy meals for fruit bags and fizzy juice for fruit juice so the only “bad thing” there were the burgers, both which only got half eaten then dumped in the favor of Apples . The girls got to eat are there own little table (in the style of a train) and were both fascinated by a penny dropping machine for charity (no idea what there actually called but you put the penny in a slot in the side and it twirls around inside before dropping in the hole) . All our change was quickly eaten up.
After a quick stop at the shopping center for some supplies it was time for swimming . I have a horrible confession to make but at almost 17 months old Eilidh had yet to go . We choose The Time Capsule . A semi local “Water World” as they call themselves, im sure most of you know the type of places - flumes, waves, rapids, fountains and just about everything else you could think about all themed in a “back in the past” type way.
At first neither girl was that sure, but by the end neither wanted to leave. Both were getting brave and happy to walk and bounce about in the shallow waters. Thankfully neither girl bothers with water in there face as this happened constantly (going down the slides normally resulted in full mouthfuls which just made us all giggle).
After all turning into prunes we left the pool and since it was still early (just after 3pm) let the girls play in the soft play area for a while. Another hour of running , climbing and general craziness followed as DH and i relaxed for a while with cold drinks .
Of course we had to do some quick shopping on the way home , just making it back for 5.30pm - by this point i think we were all shattered and starving (we had left the house at 11am) . Dinner and bath time quickly followed and both girls passed out (even though they feel asleep on the journey home)
Its been a long, tiring day but how i wish every day could be like this. The girls had a wonderful time, whats more perfect for toddlers that treat followed by treat followed by treat? They played and laughed so much today that they could barely move by bath time . Of course it was also wonderful being out as a family, its a sacarifice we have to make just now with DH working and studying so much but it can be tough . We all treasure the rare days we get to spend as a family.
Its now 8.30pm and im to tired to even go for a bath, going to go to bed with my book and let sleep take me soon.
Night xx
Safe And Sound
Camera was found with no problems this morning, i was not worried as i knew it would show up. It has been a big problem with me the last few years - putting an object somewhere “safe” and forgetting about it moments later - it drives DH crazy.
As promised pictures from last nights desert (doughnuts with melted chocolate sauce for dipping - normally the kids get yoghurt’s so it was a nice treat for them) .
And if you wondered where the kids learnt how to eat chocolate sauce just take a look at there auntie.
Christina over at Momology has been sharing some lovely sleeping shots of her little darling lately and while i know my pictures can not compare wanted to share a picture of my little monkey passed out in slumber (and yes she still takes a paci, she only has it for sleeping and under no circumstances outside the house so i don’t think its a big deal)
Also i have heard alot of people world wide complaining about the weather lately and im thinking ours cannot get more bizarre . This picture was taken about an hour ago
Now you cannot really tell but the sun was shinning and it looked reasonably warm (although more than likely was cold going by my freezing home) .
10 hours ago it looked like this
(Note not actual picture of this morning, picture taken a few weeks back but yes it really did look similar).
So from Winter to Spring in a matter of hours , thats Scotland for you.
Im glad the weekend is over now, its the start of Spring break tomorrow and my sister and i are planning all sort of activities with the kids . Its funny but Rebecca is only as playgroup two afternoons a week for less than two hours each time but its such a part of our routine that the weeks seem endless when its not on.
Today though my little “angels” decided it was fun to flood my bathroom and hallway, we all know when toddlers go quiet it means bad news . Well silly me forgot today till Rebecca came running in the room half naked with her soaking wet jeans. The hallway i quickly discovered had puddles running down it and the bathroom was almost a swimming pool . The culprit - the new roll of toilet paper stuffed down the toilet blocking it and spilling water everywhere. The kids would of been in trouble if they were not so cute helping me clean up
It Was Here A Moment Ago
Why do some objects seem to vanish in seconds? Lets see its 7.30pm , dinner was at 6 which would put desert at around 6.30 so i had my camera ONE hour ago. And now its gone, cannot find it in any room or any place.
Im not worried as it must be somewhere just annoyed, had some cute desert pictures to share (Hint - Toddlers and Chocolate sauce) . Sure it wil show up tommorow.
Its been such a busy day, it was lovely this morning so while Eilidh napped Rebecca and i took a long walk (DH was home of course). After almost 2 hours we returned home to pick up Eilidh and along with my sister and niece went down the shopping center (getting caught in a horrible hail storm that left Rebecca in tears) . Spent some money my parents gave me as a gift buying two much needed pair of maternity jeans for myself and a new top - also picked up 5 new tops for Rebecca
I love been tired though and knowing its from walking around all day rather than doing nothing .
Relaxing
Its been such a nice relaxing week , im in the stage of pregnancy where for the most part i feel great (reflux aside) . Both kids are behaving and sleeping well and the sun has shone for the first time in months.
Its really lifted my spirits , isn’t it amazing how better everything seems when you have had some sleep?
Twice this week i took long hot soaks in the tub. Tuesday night i settled in my lovely bubble bath with the latest book i was reading (The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella) , not an amazing read but it was light , fluffy and exactly the sort of book i want to read at the moment . An hour quickly passed and i started thinking about getting out even putting down the book before realizing it was the last thing i wanted to do . Spent another hour soaking while i finished the book.
Wednesday night i went for a repeat this time starting a new book(Friday Night In Beast House by Richard Laymon) For the first time in a long time i started and finished the book in one sitting and to be honest wish i had left the book unread. I was a horror fan for years and loved Laymons books and this was an example of his worst. Short, boring and just to wrong (such as the teen girl getting r*pe by the beast and loving it ) . Doubt i will ever pick up another of his books again, just not enjoyable to me any more.
Mind you the one down point this week was im now missing a tooth, this certain tooth has been bothering me for over a year now. Treatment after treatment has failed (from fillings, crowns and root treatments) and finally the dentist decided it was best just coming out - lovely. Thankfully its a back molar so not noticeable but somehow when removing the tooth my lip got cut up and boy does that hurt - the missing tooth is fine unless i get a bit of food in there .
Perfection
I think i have been rather negative on this blog lately , you know this morning i lay on my couch with my two girls . We all held onto each other tightly (as to not fall off lol) and i just watched them. Both so beautiful, so sweet and completely innocent .
They are perfection, the best things i have ever done and ever will do (along with Mac of course) so if i have perfection surely my life must be perfect? And you know what despite the stresses and worries it pretty much is ![]()
