A New Me

Im really ashamed to admit how much i weigh these days, 3 pregnancies have really taken its toll on my body. I want to blame the pregnancies but i know alot of it has been my own fault , i made bad choices and choose to enjoy the time rather than worrying about the weight.

To many years of thinking like that has left me in a state, im very over weight (200lbs +) and feel very unattractive. I get embarrassed leaving the house wondering what people are thinking of me. I never wear make up and my hair is always just pulled back – somedays shock i don’t even brush it.

I hate myself and how i look.

I know i need to make changes , im terribly addicted to food and can eat horrible amounts in one sitting . Each week i would buy huge amounts of junk every time i left the house and finishes it within the hour. It was out of control and humiliating.

I need to change and today i have started . I am not calorie controlling or following a diet (for the moment ) , Ru is still exclusively breastfeeding and i cannot risk my milk supply by cutting down to much . Im cutting out the junk , when going out taken the exact money i need and not a penny more. Trying to only eat when hungry and not when im bored . Afternoons can be the worst for me in terms of snacking so today i played the WII Fit – exercise PLUS kept me away from food.
Im hoping to lose a stone (14lbs) by the first of May- if i succeed going to treat myself to a nice new hair cut . Something short and easy to style . Then after that hopefully some new clothes .

I really need to develop some self control , its going to be a difficult week while by body gets use to the changes but hopefully easier as the time passes. Wish me luck :)

Good luck!! I’m doing pretty much the same thing right now :) Remember to drink LOTS of water too. I try to drink 72 oz of water a day (about 2 L) and don’t drink anything BUT water. I’ve found when I’m hungry (but probably shouldn’t be) if I drink 8 oz or so of water and wait 5-10 min (computer is a good distraction) I usually don’t feel hungry anymore.

I have been doing Weight watchers online since Jan 3rd (to be honest slipped off the bandwagon since Rune’s birthday) and have lost about a stone. I’d highly recommend it! Also Ivillage have a weight watchers forum which is good.

I get about 8 points (560cals extra) with breastfeeding, try and google weight watchers promotion code x

Good Luck to you Laura, I am in the same boat, I don’t recognize the body in the mirror and find my shame of it leads to me eating which just compounds the problem. I’ve been forcing myself to work out and it’s SLOW going but I feel better for it. Keeps up updated, we will cheer you on.

Kudos to you, Laura! You are SO worth it. I’m bad about snacking when bored, too. I have friends that have been extremely succesful with WW – like, lost 70+ pounds! My suggestion, tho, is to go ahead and get that haircut now for instant motivation!

You are smart to go about it as you are. A diet never works long term. It is always the lifestyle changes that work. Smaller portions and exercise.
Good for you for starting the process, and much luck to you as well! :)

Good luck with your plan! It sounds like a good and manageable plan. I know weight loss can be hard.

First off – I’m so sorry you are feeling so bad about yourself. It’s hard and horrible to feel that way. Just remember that you are an incredible, amazing person, regardless of your weight.

Second, I think it’s awesome you are so determined to do this. It must be a mix of excitement, stress, and wondering if it’ll work. Just remember that it will work:-)

I don’t know if you’re interested in any of my thoughts, so stop reading if you aren’t! There are two things that help a lot in losing/maintaining a good weight and that is avoiding sugar and preprocessed foods (and white flour!). I have a friend who weighed about 400 lbs and he lost 200lbs by working out and eating well, but he had one day a week (the same day every week so that he couldn’t cheat early or anything) where he would eat whatever he wanted. He was very controlled on the other days of the week, but knowing he had the one day to sort of release all of those urges helped him keep his focus.

Not sure if that is something you’re interested in, but it might help balance out your desire to loose weight/eat healthy…as well as deal with some of your enjoyment for food. It might help it not become overwhelming to not have what you’re craving. And, just so you know, you’re not alone in the the enjoyment of food. We all have our cravings and love to eat. It’s a normal thing…it’s just annoying we can’t eat whatever we want and stay thin like we’d like!

Anyway, good luck and sorry for writing a novel.

Good luck to you. Take it one day at a time.

Girl you ain’t said nothing! I feel the same exact way and wish you the best of luck! I wish I were as courageous as you and could publicly annnounce how I feel about myself. Maybe that would be releasing and maybe I’ll try. Thank you for being such a great example. I am rooting for you and know you can make this change!
    Peace. Love & Light!

  10. Oh Laura i so understand how your feel. I was 206 when i went for my appointment to have my IUD taken out. That meant i have gained almost 20lbs since i gave birth to MJ. I wanted to lose some weight before becoming pregnant with this baby but now that i am pregnant i am just trying to focus on eating healthy foods and it is so hard. I hope that you will be able to work it out with time and if ya ever wanna chat about it you can always send me a messgae through twitter or our group!
