Annabel Karmel Pasta Shells
I was recently gifted with a bag of Annabel Karmel Pasta Shells to try out.
I think everybody here in the UK at least is aware of Annable Karmel and her recipes/food products , i know with Rebecca we followed her books like a bible.
We were given a bag of her Organic Pasta Shells , from the official site she says
“Adding tiny pasta shapes to a tasty sauce introduces texture in a gradual way. You can also serve the baby pasta with meat, fish or vegetables.
Made from Organic Durum Wheat Good source of carbohydrate
No artificial additives & no artificial preservatives
Suitable for vegetarians Naturally low fat ”
They sound perfect and i was eager to give them ago , in the past i had not bought the product as i did not feel the need. We do not go the puree route so felt small pasta shapes were not needed , my first thought (along with Hubby’s) was they would be perfect for soup . I can almost guarantee we will be buying them for that purpose come winter.
I made the kids Cheesy Pasta for lunch yesterday using the pasta and it was a big success , all 3 cleared there plates and declared it “yum” (Well those that can talk lol ) . I felt i was given them a nice ,healthy but filling lunch dish.
I was surprised how much i liked it , the small shape meant it mixed well with the sauce (meaning no toddlers picking out pasta only to eat) and it cooked quickly .
Would i recommend the product? For those with children on table foods who are able to handle bigger chunks im not sure its necessary , we normally use Wholemeal Pasta Bows and even the boy manages them fine . If your child is on purees or starting out with lumps then i would 100% . I remember searching everywhere for a similar product when weaning Rebecca , the perfect size to add something more to the meal without the worry.
There is a whole range available including Gluten Free and Alphabet Shaped (which i think may be putting on my next shopping list, my abc crazy daughters would LOVE them) .
Anyone unsure about them just given them ago , you may be pleasantly surprised like i was.
