Ramblings

May 27, 2007 - 1:19 pm 2 Comments

Its been such a boring few days, this week has just went so quickly and i don’t think i have done anything other than clean and play with the girls. What i wouldn’t give for a little something to change now and then.
I guess i have been feeling so blah lately, my weight upsets me more than i care to mention. I’m going to start a slimming class the week after next when DH is finished his exams which also serves the purpose of just getting me out the house with no kids
for a bit. Then there is the housework - i spend hours each day cleaning and the next day it all needs done again, what i wouldn’t give for someone just to take over for the day . The joys of having your own place i guess. I feel i cannot do anything right at the moment , hopefully once DHs exams are over and we get to start spending sometime together again things will get improve.

I did get sent the link a link to a Harry Potter Rap that helped cheer me up :)

The girls are doing great as always, Eilidh has developed a love for being on her feet and LOVES to be in her walker, sitting her down can be hard as she refuses to
co-operate and just wants to be on her feet. I was suppose to be making Brownies (Thanks for the recipe Lisanne) to follow
dinner but made the mistake of buying Mini Buttons instead of the M and Ms and eating them all - we settled for Chocolate Crispy cakes instead.

Talking about food, i quite enjoy weekends as i get to make meals that i fancy rather than trying to get something that both DH and i will eat and is suitable for the kids to. Tonight it was a Chicken and Apple Salad with homemade Paprika and Garlic Potato Wedges and Ciabatta Bread , followed of course by cakes :), last
nights it was meant to be Brown Rice and Lentils but it went horribly wrong and we
ended up doing pasta at the last second. I think I’m going to start a recipe blog to share some of the meals i make if anyone is interested :)

Guess i will finish this post with a couple of pictures of Rebecca

If Its Not One Its The Other

Why is it that both kids cannot have good days on the same day? , Or both sleep well at night?
If Rebecca’s not grumpy and teething its Eils *grump*

Last night it was Rebecca’s turn, Eilidh had been down since 5.30 got up briefly at 10.30 (and I’m not sure if she would of woke up if i hadn’t went and got her as she was in the same room as Rebecca) and was happily sleeping soundly. I was sleeping in the living room with her in her moses basket and DH brought Rebecca in around 1.30 as she wanted a feed.
He took her back to bed and of course she decided to pull one of her stunts and refuse to go back to sleep. Dh brings her back to me and goes back to bed (I will not insert men moan here) .

So of course trying to get Rebecca back to sleep wakes Eilidh up , i have no choice but to let Rebecca play while i settle Eilidh again and its not 3.00. Finally Rebecca goes back to sleep at 4.00 and Eilidh gets up at 5.00 , I’m just grateful she fed and settled again quickly and we cuddled up and slept till 7.45 when Becca got up.
So I’m a little zombied today.

I had so many plans for today as well, I’m needing to go through the girls clothes and take out a lot of it . Their full floor is covered in stuff and i have no room to put it buy i really need to stop buying clothes or at least sell some of it on EBay to make room for more, i did finally work out how to use my ring sling and was going to walk up to my parents with it on. It started raining though so we got a lift instead .

Eilidh has been such a fuss pot all day and I’m not sure if its teething or illness, she is not feeding well at all and refuses to latch on most of the time. I even tried her with a bottle (or expressed milk) with no luck. She is very grumpy if put down and is dribiling so much and has bright red cheeks , she is not sleeping and making it worse for herself as she is so over tired . On the plus side she rolled over a few times again today so i would definitely say she is rolling now but strangely only from back to stomach and not stomach to back like she is suppose to be doing.

Rebecca is getting the hang of dancing now and looks so dam cute doing it, people say once the child walks all the trouble starts but its just making my life easier and more enjoyable - but then again i think things like climbing tend to come after walking not before.

Going to watch the end of the days of our lives episode I’m watching then will try and get some sleep. Wish me a good night sleep guys

Busy Week

February 23, 2007 - 4:26 pm No Comments

Long time no post, i swore when i started this blog that i was either going to write regularly
or not write at all. Its just been a busy week with little computer time - plus i just got my hands on Diner Dash 3 - Flo On The Go (Play trial at - http://tinyurl.com/37prmk) and have to play these till there completed.

Its been the usual fun in the McIntyre home, Rebecca is getting better and better at the walking everyday . Today she barely crawled at all and was even trying to dance, she also got a new word “Back Pack” as in Dora’s - Thanks Mum. Eilidh is really getting good at babbling and is
desperately trying to roll over but the dam arm keeps getting in the way.
We had a weigh in the other day and Becca is finally above the 20lbs mark at 20.5 and 81cm long (up from 19.11 and 77cm long the month before). Eilidh was 13.2 and 64cm long .

It was my wedding anniversary on Monday, a whole 2 years married :)
It really seems like nothing when compared to alot of couples, my parents have been married 26 years in April and I’m sure that is nothing for some people. DH and i had a lovely evening - just the fact that we spent it together was enough for me. We had a meal (Domino’s Pizza - but saved him cooking and other take aways are out as Eilidh reacts to alot of things) , and watched a movie (The Break Up) . The sweetest thing was he arranged candles all around the room and we eat and sat in candle light all night, he really is a romantic guy at heart.

Park Life

February 17, 2007 - 3:14 pm 1 Comment

After a horrible week we woke up to a lovely sunny day today, it wasn’t the warmest of days but
my sister and i decided to take the kids to the park for a while. I have been feeling kinda stir crazy lately and just wanted out the house for a while.
We have about 4 parks within easy walking distance although none of them are that great, we decided to go to the one at the bottom of the street as it has shops next door for the girls
to spend the pocket money from Nana. Rebecca loved playing on the swing and Eilidh had a go
on her Aunties knee, we also played on the round about for a while and then went to the football
field bit to let the girls run around a little.
It was the first time Rebecca has got to practice her walking skills outdoors and was so cute to see her toddling around, she fell quite a bit and she got quite mucky but seemed to have fun still.
We left to go to the shops after a while getting the girls a small treat for being good and leaving with no fuss, it is the first time i have been to the shop in ages and was surprised to find a small section of American “Candy” on sales - some Hershey’s stuff and Reices Pieces - i have never seen these for sale in the UK before . Still settled for Cadburys chocolate as i really believe nothing can beat that.
We went home and all had a lovely dinner, it was sad though after we bathed all the girls and my sister and Courtney were leaving to go home, Rebecca went to the hallway and came back in with her jacket . We felt so bad for her, she hates when they leave.

Diffrences

It sometimes amazes me how different my girls are, its only been 3 months so they could end
up being so alike but for the moment…..

Here’s a picture of them both at 3 months, Becs first and Eilidh second. I really
think they look completely different.

My pregnancies were complete opposites so i guess i shouldn’t be surprised , with Rebecca
i felt awful from day one whereas except from the tiredness/fed up- ness in the last trimester
i felt fine with Eilidh.
Then there was there sizes -
Rebecca 6lbs 13oz, 50cm long, 34cm head………6 days early and
had her health problems.
Eilidh 8lbs 10oz, 54.5cm long, 36cm head……..8 days late and completely healthy.

I guess i was lucky as one of there similarities has been they both took to the breast like naturals.

I have noticed quite a few differences in there personality in the few months since Eilidhs birth, lets see…

Rebecca was never big on sleeping by herself and much preferred being in our arms.
Eilidh although does like her cuddles sleeps so much better on her own.
Rebecca now at 20 months still wakes once a night, Eilidh at 3 months wakes once a night to.
Rebecca though liked independent play and loved tummy time, Eilidh hates tummy time and
is nowhere near as big on independent play.
Rebecca was also quite a hard child to get to laugh, my dad used to say she would look at you like you were stupid. Eilidh on the other hand laughs and smiles at everything.

Then there is there sizes, okay Eilidh got a 2lbs start but right now she is almost 14lbs . Rebecca
was 14lbs 5oz at 6 months. Eilidh is currently in 3-6 months clothes, Rebecca was at least
6 months before she started wearing that size and that was because i was bored of the 0-3 months stuff. Rebecca definitely takes after her dad and Eilidh my family.

There is also there temperament, although for the most part both are great happy kids. Nothing would phase Rebecca and nothing in my milk would bother her, she could go days without crying at all. Eilidh is a fussier child and i need to avoid eating certain spices and hot foods.

I really cannot wait for the coming months to see there similarities and differences develop more. I do think a major similarity is there both the cutest babies ever :)

Health Issues

February 13, 2007 - 4:52 pm No Comments

I think I’m going to enjoy blogging; i really wanted to write last night but couldn’t get to the computer without a kid in my arms. Thankfully both angels are sleeping now - Rebecca has even been in her bed since 7.
Eilidh got her shots yesterday and was a bit ill in the evening, i gave her medicine when we got home as instructed but she couldn’t get more till 7pm and between 6 and 7 she was screaming in pain, she was just so miserable. Come 7 though i gave her the medicine - i gave her a full 5ml dose even though the health visitor said she could only get 2.5ml till she is 3 months. Well she is 3 months on Thursday and slightly bigger than the average 3 month old so i went with my mummy instinct and gave her more - she does spit out quite abit of it so more than likely only got about 3/4 a dose anyways. She thankfully then settled and slept well only getting up briefly
at 1.40am.
Today she was in fine form, we go out for lunch every Tuesday and she babbled and squealed her way through the meal just falling asleep at the end. We do our food shopping afterwards and now put both kids in the trolley .I love that :)

I’m getting worried about Rebecca’s hospital appointment in March, we had not receive anything yet so DH called the hospital and they said they have us done for the end of March and we should receive something soon.
The surgeon had mentioned before that if her voice was quiet they would operate again to separate more of the vocal cords. She is still really quiet so I’m pretty sure she will need more surgery.
I guess its the not knowing that is the worst part as we have no idea how bad the surgery would be, last time she was knocked out and on a ventilator but there was so much more involved that just separating a little bit of vocal cords. The worse part would be i more than likely couldn’t stay in the hospital with her as i would need to be with Eilidh, DH would stay but I’m mummy and it would break my heart to not be. I just pray its a very minor procedure and can be done simply.

I Love Sundays

February 11, 2007 - 3:42 pm No Comments

They used to be one of the longest days of the week for me but at the end of
my pregnancy with Eilidh we started going to my mums for Sunday dinner and its great fun.

Rebecca and her 4 year old cousin play so well together, today it was drawing. Both went
to either sides of an easel and drew for ages - now and then the other would pop there head
around and go boo to the other.
They chase each other around the house, and fight over frozen melon balls. Eilidh was content
kicking about on the floor so i got to be lazy and read the Sunday papers.

We also have a lovely 3 course meal to enjoy, it’s such a joy not having to cook or clean up the mess afterwards.

The girls are always so tired by the time we get home and tend to sleep really well, whereas i get to relax for a few hours on the computer as DH is working.

Tomorrow Eilidh has her second set of jabs and I’m really not looking forward to them, she has
been a little fussy the last few days and I’m worrying that will just make things worse. Also going to try and get Rebecca a doctors appointment as her Eczema is just getting worse and none of the creams and stuff we have is helping, its definitely bothering her now and she is scratching like crazy.
