A group I’m on was challenging us to show the contents of our purses. Well as mother with two young children i don’t carry a purse but instead a changing bag. Here are the contents, click on it and it will take you to flickr to see the notes on it.

Say Goodbye To My Summer

May 30, 2007 - 1:20 pm 2 Comments

Im so excited , Big Brother starts in just over 2 and a half hours . I just love this show, i have
watched it since a couple of episodes into the first season and got more
addicted each year. Its a big thing here in the UK and the housemates will be front page news for the next few months. My sister and i are both going to be watching the opening night and sending mean texts back and forth, its fun to make guesses what the people will be like.
Its on for a record 13 weeks and 2 days this time around , I’m going to have to time for any other TV shows :)

I do think the excitement has gotten to me a little though as tonight i gave Rebecca her bath after dinner (normally DHs job but he has his last exam tomorrow) , can anyone tell me whats wrong with the picture?

I’m a silly mummy aren’t i ?

In other news we have had two little milestones from Eilidh this week, she pulled herself up for the first time the other day. She has been trying constantly again since, she can do it fine on a person but really needs something to grab hold of still . Today i also saw her for the first time get herself from a crawling position to a sitting position, I’m sure she has done it before but its the first time i watched her do it. She is just such a big girl .

Ramblings

May 27, 2007 - 1:19 pm 2 Comments

Its been such a boring few days, this week has just went so quickly and i don’t think i have done anything other than clean and play with the girls. What i wouldn’t give for a little something to change now and then.
I guess i have been feeling so blah lately, my weight upsets me more than i care to mention. I’m going to start a slimming class the week after next when DH is finished his exams which also serves the purpose of just getting me out the house with no kids
for a bit. Then there is the housework - i spend hours each day cleaning and the next day it all needs done again, what i wouldn’t give for someone just to take over for the day . The joys of having your own place i guess. I feel i cannot do anything right at the moment , hopefully once DHs exams are over and we get to start spending sometime together again things will get improve.

I did get sent the link a link to a Harry Potter Rap that helped cheer me up :)

The girls are doing great as always, Eilidh has developed a love for being on her feet and LOVES to be in her walker, sitting her down can be hard as she refuses to
co-operate and just wants to be on her feet. I was suppose to be making Brownies (Thanks for the recipe Lisanne) to follow
dinner but made the mistake of buying Mini Buttons instead of the M and Ms and eating them all - we settled for Chocolate Crispy cakes instead.

Talking about food, i quite enjoy weekends as i get to make meals that i fancy rather than trying to get something that both DH and i will eat and is suitable for the kids to. Tonight it was a Chicken and Apple Salad with homemade Paprika and Garlic Potato Wedges and Ciabatta Bread , followed of course by cakes :), last
nights it was meant to be Brown Rice and Lentils but it went horribly wrong and we
ended up doing pasta at the last second. I think I’m going to start a recipe blog to share some of the meals i make if anyone is interested :)

Guess i will finish this post with a couple of pictures of Rebecca

Park Life

February 17, 2007 - 3:14 pm 1 Comment

After a horrible week we woke up to a lovely sunny day today, it wasn’t the warmest of days but
my sister and i decided to take the kids to the park for a while. I have been feeling kinda stir crazy lately and just wanted out the house for a while.
We have about 4 parks within easy walking distance although none of them are that great, we decided to go to the one at the bottom of the street as it has shops next door for the girls
to spend the pocket money from Nana. Rebecca loved playing on the swing and Eilidh had a go
on her Aunties knee, we also played on the round about for a while and then went to the football
field bit to let the girls run around a little.
It was the first time Rebecca has got to practice her walking skills outdoors and was so cute to see her toddling around, she fell quite a bit and she got quite mucky but seemed to have fun still.
We left to go to the shops after a while getting the girls a small treat for being good and leaving with no fuss, it is the first time i have been to the shop in ages and was surprised to find a small section of American “Candy” on sales - some Hershey’s stuff and Reices Pieces - i have never seen these for sale in the UK before . Still settled for Cadburys chocolate as i really believe nothing can beat that.
We went home and all had a lovely dinner, it was sad though after we bathed all the girls and my sister and Courtney were leaving to go home, Rebecca went to the hallway and came back in with her jacket . We felt so bad for her, she hates when they leave.

Diffrences

February 16, 2007 - 5:52 pm No Comments

It sometimes amazes me how different my girls are, its only been 3 months so they could end
up being so alike but for the moment…..

Here’s a picture of them both at 3 months, Becs first and Eilidh second. I really
think they look completely different.

My pregnancies were complete opposites so i guess i shouldn’t be surprised , with Rebecca
i felt awful from day one whereas except from the tiredness/fed up- ness in the last trimester
i felt fine with Eilidh.
Then there was there sizes -
Rebecca 6lbs 13oz, 50cm long, 34cm head………6 days early and
had her health problems.
Eilidh 8lbs 10oz, 54.5cm long, 36cm head……..8 days late and completely healthy.

I guess i was lucky as one of there similarities has been they both took to the breast like naturals.

I have noticed quite a few differences in there personality in the few months since Eilidhs birth, lets see…

Rebecca was never big on sleeping by herself and much preferred being in our arms.
Eilidh although does like her cuddles sleeps so much better on her own.
Rebecca now at 20 months still wakes once a night, Eilidh at 3 months wakes once a night to.
Rebecca though liked independent play and loved tummy time, Eilidh hates tummy time and
is nowhere near as big on independent play.
Rebecca was also quite a hard child to get to laugh, my dad used to say she would look at you like you were stupid. Eilidh on the other hand laughs and smiles at everything.

Then there is there sizes, okay Eilidh got a 2lbs start but right now she is almost 14lbs . Rebecca
was 14lbs 5oz at 6 months. Eilidh is currently in 3-6 months clothes, Rebecca was at least
6 months before she started wearing that size and that was because i was bored of the 0-3 months stuff. Rebecca definitely takes after her dad and Eilidh my family.

There is also there temperament, although for the most part both are great happy kids. Nothing would phase Rebecca and nothing in my milk would bother her, she could go days without crying at all. Eilidh is a fussier child and i need to avoid eating certain spices and hot foods.

I really cannot wait for the coming months to see there similarities and differences develop more. I do think a major similarity is there both the cutest babies ever :)

Walking

February 14, 2007 - 4:49 pm No Comments

Finally Rebecca is walking only took 20 months.

She is not quite 100% yet but is getting more confident every hour. The difference between yesterday and today is amazing.
I am on cloud 9 right now as i was beginning to feel this would never happen, i have so many plans for the summer now and cannot wait to take her out once she is walking 100%.

I have learned so much from this experience, i have a cousin who never walked till 18 months and i really thought there was something wrong with her or her parents. Every time I read about a child older than around 14 months not walking i really felt the parents were to blame. I now know that’s not true, Rebecca has never been an average child and why should she walk in the average range.

I’m a happy proud mammy today.
